Q: can i use digoxin with weak heart muscle?

what is the best treatment for weak heart muscle?knowing that the only symptom is swelling in the legs.

Hi Sam,

 

Let's try again.  Here's a link discussing cardiomyopathy - http://www.healthcentral.com/encyclopedia/408/700.html#treatment.

 

The link above mentions four medications used for treatment.  Digoxin is one listed.  Digoxin may increase the force of the heart muscle contraction by increasing calcium levels inside heart cells. The benefit seen with digoxin to treat this condition appears to be mediocre and potentially risky for women with heart failure.  However, I am not an expert in this area and recommend discussing with your physician.
