Q: 25 year old with high blood pressure, anxiety, cholesterol problems, pvc, and thyroid problem

I am a 25 year old mother of 1 toddler.  I don't know much about my health history, but I do know that my mom had periocardidis? (the inflammation of the sac of fluid that holds the heart) and had to take those nitrus pills that you put under your tongue. That being said.

I'm 5 11 and I weigh in at 293.  I have untreated anxiety, treated thyroid condition (100mcg a day), high cholesterol (mainly triglycerides), and out of nowhere, I went in for my check up, and my blood pressure was through the roof, and I have been having the occasional feeling in my heart, where I'm at rest and all of a sudden my heart starts beating wildly and it flutters up through my chest almost right into my mouth. My doctor told me that they were PVC's, and put me on 50 mg of atenolol.  Well that's great, but I can't exercise now. It makes me feel all hot and strange on the inside. I feel like I'm doing more damage being on the atenolol then off of it.

So my questions are,

Are PVC's going to kill me?

Do they HAVE to be treated?

Is being as overweight as I am contributing to any or all of these symptoms?

will losing weight do anything to help thse conditions or am I wasting my time?

Is my doctor possibly overlooking something?

ps. I don't know if I should add that i get nose bleeds about once a week, and I have been having some pretty gnarly headaches, and some shooting head pains?

someone please help. basically i'm just afraid to die at 25 years old.

Hi Fishmanhb,

I'm going to address two of your questions.  Yes, being overweight is contributing to some of your health issues, such as high cholesterol/triglycerides and high blood pressure.  By losing the excess weight it's likely you'll be able to manage your condition without some of the medications or lower doses.
