My husband was recently tested to be listed for a heart transplant. He wakes from deep sleep with the feeling that he's below surface of water & is unable to break free causing shortness of breathe.

Hi Kathy,

I am not certain of your exact question, but I encourage your husband to speak with his cardiologist about this.  He may be a candidate for anti-anxiety medication that may put the dream to ease.  Or, he may have been started on a medication that has the side effect of bad dream or nightmares.  I encourage him to speak with his physician.

Best of luck,
