Q: Is low blood pressure related to low sugar

Im a 33 year old woman. After a finish my class of karate like 2 hours after de exercises my blood pressure  drops to 85/56. I do not know if that is normal and also if its related to my low sugar. It makes me feel real tired and very sleepy. The good thing is that my class is at night so after de class and having dinner I go right to sleep. It would help if you can tell me with what type of doctor should a I go and what steps should I take to see what is wrong. Thank You very much

Hi Silvia,

Start with consulting your primary care physician for an evaluation and if necessary a referral to an appropriate specialist.  The symptoms you feel may be related to low blood pressure or low blood sugar.  Be sure you are eating a pre and post workout snack that is a good balance of carbs and protein to prevent feelings of low blood sugar and maximize workout results.

All the best,
