Q: I am only 30 years old. Is it possible?

I  am under a lot of stress lately. I just moved from over seas, and have started some college classes. I keep having chest pain. To me it feels like I cant catch my breath and that there is a tightness like feeling in my heart/chest. Kind of the same feeling of when you swallow and take in an air bubble, like I am swallowing a lump. Well my chest/ heart feels like I have a lump in it. Off and on through out the day it will feel like my heart is about to pound out of my chest. Should I be worried at this age?

Hi Sapperwife,

Unfortunately, heart disease is occuring at younger ages, so yes there is reason for concern.  I recommend you be evaluated by a physician.  It may simply be a matter of new stress management strategies as you adjust to all the recent changes in your life.

All the best,
