Hi Seeking an answer,
Here is a link that discusses the possible side effects of Lopressor (also known as Metropolol). Are you also taking niacin, by any chance, as a new prescription? Niacin is known to cause flushing and itching of the skin.
Facial burning is not a side effect that I have seen listed for this medication but that doesn't mean that your body isn't having this reaction to this medication. The only way to truly know if it is causing the problem is to stop taking it. If you no longer experience the facial burning, then chances are that the metroprol was involved. BUT, DO NOT stop taking the medication until you have spoken to your physician and gotten a substitute medication.
Best of luck,
