Wednesday, December 01, 2010 John asks

Q: over last couple of days, my heart rate has increased and is weaker than normal. i have felt dehydrated, but drink plenty of water. I have been sweating, and feel hot. any ideas?

My lips have been chapped, which is not normal.  I haven't exercised recently, but ran a 20K a couple of months ago with about 3 weeks of training.  Blood pressure has been borederline high for a while, but haven't been to the doctor for a check up in almost a year.  Had my heart checked around march and they said it was fine.  Been some stress lately with my relationship.  Don't know if that is a contributing factor.

Hi John,

I recommend contacting your physician for an evaluation to determine the cause of your symptoms and appropriate treatment.

If your blood pressure is consistently elevated I recommend taking steps to lower your blood pressure. This may mean medication (consult your physician) combined with diet and lifestyle changes to lower blood pressure.

All the best,
