From your question, it sounds as though there is great concern about the cause of his symptoms.  Chest pain/tightness must be evaluated by a physician as soon as possible.  Only after a careful history (questions), thorough examination, and electrocardiogram, can a doctor be in a position to tell what is going on.  Even then, further testing is usually required to be sure of the diagnosis.  In addition to heart disease, many gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and muscle problems can cause chest discomfort.  But of all the possibilities, heart disease is the most crucial and should be identified as soon as possible.

The pulse rates you mentioned are normal.  Blood pressure could rise, fall, or remain normal if this is heart disease.  Angina usually lasts a few minutes up to 15 minutes, while heart attack pain is usually longer.  But there is no set standards in heart disease.  Contact his physician for an appointment as soon as possible.  She he develop discomfort before then, he should go to an emergency room.
