Q: Is it abnormal to have a weird heartbeat pattern at 17?

I'm 17 and my heartbeat is really irregular, like it skips around constantly. I'm not entirely sure if anything is actually wrong, because anytime I've gone to see a doctor, they don't notice anything wrong. Also, every once in a while my heart starts pounding in my chest, so I can't breathe very well and I sometimes get dizzy. It's also sort of painful, like something is pressing down on my chest. I've read about heart arrhythmia, but I don't know if that's what it is because that's been explained to me as a sort of heart attack. I'm 5'7" and I weigh 120lbs, and I exercise fairly often, so I don't think I could have a heart attack. Help the idiot girl please? (I didn't know what topic to list this under. I've been trying to find answers before seeing a doctor and this seemed like a logical place to look...)

Hi SinclairTheMad,

You should discuss this with your physician again as you seem to be planning on.  Here is a link to Heart Palpitations that you may find helpful as well.
