Q: I am 65 yr old male and exercise daily and am very fit but I have a large stomach that I cannot lose

How do you lose a large stomach? I exercise daily, I eat greens and protein and lots of veggies.  I have lost 10 lbs but nothing has come off my stomach.  My body fat measured 20% and my stomach is very firm because I do lots of abdominal exercise as well as cardiovascular and weight work.  How can I reduce my stomach?  Why won't it reduce?

Thank you.

Hi there. Depending on your total weight, as you lose body fat you should certainly see some come off the belly. Normally, the areas we see the most notable weight loss is in the face and stomach area. I would think if you keep doing what you are doing you will see some improvement. Make sure you are checking with your doctor for anty diet, exercise, and nutrition advice. Keep up the good work, Keith:)

Thank you for answering my plea for help.  We have been on a 3 wk diet from the "Fat Flush" book by Louise Gittleman which is a liver cleanse and supposed to get to the midsection fat, but my husband has lost about 10 lbs everywhere but not in his mid section.  He is quite lean and toned everywhere.  The diet has no dairy, no wheat, eliminating any allergy related reasons.  It includes veggies and protein,2 eggs, and 2T flax seed and 2T flax seed oil, daily. After 3 wks, we are ready to change to something that works.????? any ideas as to why it isn't working.  How do you get to that fat under there?Would love to hear your suggestions and ideas.

Thanks!
