While this isn't necessarily a high blood pressure question, it is an interesting one, and little bit of a controversy in medicine.

Quickly, diverticulosis is a disease of the colon characterized by small outpockets or dimples that go through the thickness of the wall of the intestine.  Each outpocket is referred to as a divertuculum, or in the plural, diverticula.

You should DEFINITELY increase the amount of fiber, both soluble and insoluble fiber in your diet.  These foods include green leafy vegetables, whole grains, bean and other legumes.  Fiber helps keep your bowel movements regular, and reduces straining on the toilet, which is good for diverticulous.

The avoidance of seeds and other small indigestible objects is a classically taught diet restriction in diverticulousis, however, restricting these foods from your diet does not seem to reduce the diverticulitis (the inflammation of diverticula). 

So, in all honesty, restricting these foods from your diet probably does not do anything, and while seeds, berries, and the like are very healthy foods to eat.
