My mother is in her 70s and has ostheoarthritis, and a hernia which has also flarred up lately. She is in alot of pain and most pain killers havn't helped with her neck and back pain so whe was prescribed fosamax about 2 months ago. She has a prexisiting heart conditition for which she takes wofarin and another heart medication and I believe suffers from an irregular heart beat, she also has a very small lung capacity and gets breathless quite easily. However since taking the fosamax her symptoms have very recently deteriorated, now she gets breathless from doing the smallest task, i.e. making a bed or even moving around, which hasn't been such a serious issue for a long time. She feels faint and very sick and her heart speeds up. She has just recently been checked out by her G.P who doesn't seem to think at this stage that her symptoms are related to fosamax and is looking into other possibilities. She was also sent to the hospital to have her heart checked out and we are waiting to hear back. I am wondering with some of the articles I have read on the internet whether with these preexisitng problems she may be experiencing some heart related side effects and whether since the benefits she has gained from being on fosamax appear small she should come off the medication?
Thanks Julie
