Friday, February 04, 2011 Ron asks

Q: I am a very active 66 yr old male, bypass surgery 3 years ago, no risk factors other than family history and age.I have periodic episodes of irregular heart rhythm lasting 2-4 hrs.

My cardiologist originally described this as atrial flutter but since has been called a-fib. I have no tachycardia, the episodes usually occur at night. How do I differentiate between flutter and a-fib?
