Q: dental disease affecting heart

Does dental health affect heart or heart rate?

Yes. Multiple studies have shown a link between periodontal (gum) disease and cardiovascular disease including coronary artery disease. Though the exact relationship is not yet determined, scientists suspect gum inflammation promotes a generalized inflammatory immune response that contributes to blood vessel disease, and that bacteria and toxins involved in gingival inflammation are released into the circulation and affect areas of existing blood vessel disease.

Me.....It's nice to see Dr Thomas type that................I've always thought that was the start of my heart problem and first carditis attack...........so what he says .......I believe to be true in some cases
