Generic vs brand name drugs are different for each person.  Most people respond the same to both, as they should since the drugs have the same active ingredients.  However, the medications may have different fillers or inactive ingredients and you may be more sensitive to one filler vs another.  Whether this is the cause of your issue, I am not sure.  You may want to consider speaking with your pharmacist about the difference between the generic and the brand name.

Also, since this is pain in your chest area, if you are at all concerned that you may be having a heart attack, I encourage you to go to the emergency room.  Here is a link that explains the symptoms of heart attack in women.
