Hi J.C.
Since you had a temperature and swelling, it is possible that an infection is involved and needs to be addressed, but only a physician can tell you what is causing the pain in your leg and abdomen. I suggest you call your doctor as soon as possible.
Best of luck,
Monica M. Skidmore, MS, RD, LDN

Thanks for your response. The question was asked for my son David. Later on Tuesday, he noticed his left leg swollen and could hardly walk.
He was taken to emergency about 3 pm Tuesday, Jan 12, 2010. A sonogram showed a blood clot in his left leg - from about the groin area to his knee, and he was admitted to the hospital. He is now on blood thinners and not allowed to get up. He now realizes he could have died.
Praise God for modern technology.
