Q: i'm a 60 yr old woman,what should my heart rate be at 300 lbs.

I've just started excersing on a gazelle & i'm not quite sure what my heart rate should go up to.....my normal heart rate on metoprolol 25mg is 54 bpm....what should my heart be allowed to go up to.

Hi Labsewinglady,

 

Great job beginning an exercise program - stick with it!!

 

When exercising you'd like your heart rate to be somewhere between 50-85% your max heart rate (you can narrow that range down by working with your physician to determine what's appropriate for your condition).

 

Your max heart rate at the age of 60 is 160 beats per minute.  A range of 50-85% max heart rate would be 80-136 beats per minute.
