Saturday, May 31, 2008 Abe Klevansky asks

Q: What siide effect are there from aggresive medication to delay bypass surgery?

I am experiencing a high level of anxiety and profuse sweating from taking a pharmaceutical mixture which includes Iscover (clopidogrel hydrogen sulfate), Lipitor, Cartia, Metformin, Noten (Atenolol), Avapro (Irbesartan), Sertaline.

I am a 57 year old male, who has enjoyed exceptional good health, before being diagnosed with two diseased arteries. I am 6' 2", and am on a very strict diet to reduce my weight which is now at 112kg.

My symptoms include depression, anxiety, hot sweats --- None of which I have ever experienced before.

I have been prescribed this aggressive medication regime to delay bypass surgery. I have advised that a stent is not an option.

Please could you tell me if these are normal reactions, and will these side-effects eventually dissipate or be present throughout the treatment period.
