Category:Bacteria Vaginosis

I've had/have bacteria vaginosis for a year and a half & antibiotics are ineffective - any sug?

I have a resistant case of bacteria vaginosis for  a year and a half.  The doctors had me on antibiotics for the first year continuously - which only worsened the discomfort and discharge.   The last six months I've tried yogurt, and various supplements (i.e., probiotics, multi-vitamen, golden seal, garlic, folic acid).    I've cut down on sugar intake as well.   I've had the same sexual partner for 6 years.  The doctors said that he did not need treatment because it is due to the female flora and not sexually transmitted?????

I'm miserable and embarrased not to mention my relationship is stressedddddd - sex is gross!!!!

Hello Cindy

Definitly try a different doctor. Antibiotics are almost never used for a whole year as prolonged use will negatively affect the immune system and could make the condition worse. It could very well be something other than vaginosis. I would suggest getting your significant other checked out and getting tested for all, all, all of the sexually transmitted diseases. I would also change doctors and see what the new doc says.

I hope this was helpful and sorry about he delay getting back to you.
