I am an overweight 43 year old male and have been having random chest pains over the last year. Sometimes the pain is on the left side of my rib cage, other times under my breast and still other times directly in the center of my chest and maybe a little to the left. From time to time I also have the pain radiating up to my shoulder and even through to my back. I've gone to the ER twice and each time had EKG's, chest X-Rays and drug induced stress tests all of which came back normal. My PCP doesn't believe it's anything related to my heart . We've gone the route of medications for stress / anxiety, with no help. I've gone to a GI specials and had an EDG (?) done. It showed nothing. Should I seek the consult of some form of Cardiologist and if so, which type? Cardiac Electrophysiology? Cardiovascular Disease? Cardiology Interventional? To be honest, the pains scare me and so I'd like to make sure it's nothing serious. Thanks in advance.
