Q: My heart just started beating very fast, and very hard?

I was just doing nothing. All the sudden my heart started beating really fast. It felt like it didn't feel like it got to rest at all. The beats hurt almost cause it felt like it was bulging out of my chest. I could feel my heartbeat everywhere in my body. I also almost fainted and couldn't breath. I have Pectus Carinatum, could that cause this? Please help me I'm really scared I'm only 13. Thanks!

Hi Hayda24:

I advise you to visit with your physician and communicate with your parents what you experienced. When there are any new symtpoms concerning the heart it is ALWAYS best to be evaluated by a professional. Your physician can decide if any further tests need to be run. He/She can also explain to you what are your increased risks are for having a different shaped chest. Do not wait, have this addressed immediately.

Take care,

Tara
