Thursday, April 30, 2009 Peggy Carter asks

Q: I have unstable angina caused by atherosclerosis. My pain is more frequent.

Is there a permanent fix for this. If not what is the best treatment available? I am currently on a beta blocker but it's not stopping my angina attacks or even lessening the events. Thank You.

Hi Peggy,

Discuss other options with your physician to treat the angina specifically.  Sometimes vasodilators are used.  Also, discuss coenzyme Q10 and supplementation, which may help reduce angina.

All the best,
