Be Heart Healthy and Lose Weight
I have had coronary heart disease for 8 years now and had 7 bypasses. I was on a diet that allowed only 65 grams of fat a day. The main thing is to read labels and make sure there is no trans fats and stay away from hydrogenated oils and rehydrogenated oils. Olive oil and Canola oils are heart health in moderation. If you look close at the markets there are a lot of fat free and low fat products on the market today. I stayed away from a lot of meats like beef. Fish is very good because of omega 3 , chicken without the skin and baked, grilled, never fried. Turkey is also good minus the skin. I ate a lot of very lean pork the other white meat. Hamburger which was my favorite but the extra lean or 90-10 . Pre packaged foods are usually high in fat and sodium. They do make low fat and fat free bologna and hot dogs. I believe kraft makes a fat free cheese and there different brands of fat free cream cheese, sour cream, yogurt, ice cream ect. Some stores carry fat free muffins and pastries. Just need to be very charged up to read the labels and that. I hope I have helped some.
