whats the best way to lower triglycerides??
blood test revealed these levels are 291
Hi Jeff,
Five main steps:
1. Limit Fat - Limit total fat intake to 30% or less of your daily caloric intake and gradually replace saturated fats (whole milk, ice cream, meat fat, etc.) with unsaturated fats (canola oil, nuts, seeds, and fish).
2. Limit Sugars - Limit simple sugars (soda, baked goods, candy, fruit juice, etc.)
3. Limit Alcohol - Even small amounts can affect triglycerides
4. Increase physical activity - 30 minutes on 3 or more days each week
5. Lose weight and/or maintain a healthy weight
Seems overwhelming, but take it one step at a time and you should start to see a positive decrease on your triglyceride level.
All the best,
