Q: Is is normal for a heart patient to be unable to sleep due to worry about another heart attack?

Heart patient with 2 previous heart attacks; quad CABG and heart reshaping is having problems sleeping because he feels that he is going to have another heart attack. He recently had a nuclear stress test which was stopped when his heart beat became irratic.  The doc had him take one of his Troprol and that seemed to take care of it.  He has been very tired and just not feeling "well".

Hi Murphy,

Yes, living with stress can lead to insomnia problems.  I encourage you to discuss your worries/symptoms with your physician so you can take steps to prevent another heart attack and give yourself peace of mind.

All the best,
