Your doctor is always the best person to answer these questions and determine the best plan of action.  The most common cause of chest pain in someone your age is costochondritis, which is basically just muscle pain around your ribcage. Heart attacks in a 23 year old are extremely rare, but they can occur. People most susceptible to heart attacks at this age have a genetic mutation that prevents the liver from clearing cholesterol in the blood.  The very high cholesterol levels can lead to heart problems at a young age.  There are also a number of somewhat rare intrinsic problems of the heart that can cause an early heart attack. Again, your doctor to can better inform you after a proper examination and basic lab tests.
