Hi Debbie,

Pain of any kind anywhere in your body is a warning that something is not right. It could be angina, or simple indigestion. We know for sure that heart disease is the #1 killer of men and women in America. You can get some very helpful information here.

Aloha Debbie,

I just wanted to point out that certainly pain is a sign that your body is in need, however, it isn't always a sign of catastrophy.

We live in a busy world.  It is important that you do all you can to help your body eliminate the tension that you hold in your muscles.  Keep in mind that there is a very busy intersection in the middle of your chest.  Large blood vessels, your esophagus and trachea pass from your chest cavity to your abdominal cavity in this location, while your diaphram is busy moving up and down as it pulls air into your lungs and then expells it.  Like I say, very busy intersection.

Another thing to keep in mind is that your stomach actually lies under your rib cage on your left side.  You might think of your stomach as being under your belly button, but that is where your lower bowel lives.  Indigestion and reflux will be felt under your rib cage on the left.

If your doctor has ruled out any health issues you should be concerned about, the pain is still a nagging urge to DO SOMETHING about the tension that is draining the life out of you.  Rest, relaxation, meditation, physical activity, laughter and even nutritional supplementation are all helpful in creating the release that purges your body of tension.  Find something that you are willing to stick with and nurture yourself!

Many blessings,

Carrie
