Q: Exercise after heart bypass

I am 42 years old male, had my heart bypass operation 10 years ago,

My blood pressure & cholesterol are under control through medicines,

And visiting my cardiologist doctor every six month, my weight is 74 kg.

I am doing daily brisk walk for 3.5km in 40 minutes.

I want to use gym, to tune up my other body muscles, please advise me what exercises I can do in gym, I don't want to give pressure to my chest area which had operated.

Waiting for your advises & guidance

Hi Toufiq,

Unfortunately, I'm not able to advise you on your activities.  Everyone's situation is different following bypass surgery.  I recommend getting a referral from your physician to a cardiac rehab center.  You could learn in one rehab session about what your specific limitations are and how far you can push yourself when working out.  The rehab specialist could show you different activities that are safe.

All the best,
