Q: Heart valve repair followed by several mini strokes (not TIA's)

I need answers whether I should exercise or not.  When I walk for half and hour I get dizzy when I stand up and very fatigued for the rest of the day.  My surgery went well, but the neurologist tells me the strokes robbed me of the 'energy' I was expecting.  I feel much better if I do not exercise for any duration but go about my day in a easy manner.  I want to exercise to increase my stamina, as it is pitifull.  I have asked everyone what to do and all I get is "do what you can" and it will take a lot of time.

The first time I experienced strokes I was in the hospital for 4 days.  The day after I was released I ended up back in the hospital with 'more strokes', though no new ones showed up on the 2nd MRI.  Apparently this is not normal.  Also, I have been treated for asthma for 28 years, (I'm 53) the asthma disappeared after surgery.  It's been 10 weeks since surgery and my upper chest is still sore especially in the morning.  Please give me some advise if you can.

Thanks

George

Hi Gearge,

I am sorry to hear that you have to endure so much.  I encourage you to ask your physician for a referral to cardiac rehab. In cardiac rehab, you would do your exercises with physical therapists, nurses, and often dietitians who can monitor you and give you great advice on what to do safely by yourself after your cardiac rehab is complete.

Best of luck,
