Hi,
i have mild mitral valve prolapse and doctors have reassured me that's it's not as serious as most heart diseases.  They've given me the same propranolol as medication to be used only when symtpoms appear but it doesn't even help..i noticed that at times my chest would feel like it's tightening and my lips turn blue..and now it seems it hasn't changed to its original reddish color, not totally at least..the outer edges have remained blackish blue and i don't like it..i hope there's something i could do to make it turn back to its original color...help..please..anyone?
Joel

Hi Joel,

Blue lips are often a sign of a lack of oxygen or hypoxia.  I tried to find some good information here on Health Central to refer you to, but there is not much regarding hypoxia and possible causes.  Here is a some information you may want to review - http://www.healthcentral.com/copd/h/causes-of-hypoxia.html.  I recommend contacting your physician to discuss your symptoms and the steps you need to take.

All the best,
