been confirmed problem with heart now tight chest dry cough

i recently had a 24 hour holter monitor.my doctor referred me to cardiologist next month over past 4 weeks have started with more tightness in my chest and a dry persistant cough which worsens at night .I am going on holiday in 2 weeks .should I see my doctor again before i fly or just wait for appointment with cardiologist. I feel I'm making a fuss as i have already got my referral .My husband just tells me wait and see what the cardiologist says because he knows more than the doctor but i'm feeling weaker each day but try to carry on as normal.
