Q: I have episodes at night (usually when I first start to fall asleep) that feel like my hearts stops.

About 5 days out of the week, when I first starting falling a sleep, I feel as though my heart is stopping. It wakes me up and typically my heart starts to pound really hard. This may occur 4 - 5 times before I finally fall a sleep. Just this morning when I woke up, I laid on my back, and started to fall a sleep, Suddenly it felt as though I was having a real heart attack, I woke up completely at this point and it went away. I have went to the local Dr. and he thinks it was sleep apnea, however, it is nothing like that. I actually was sent to a sleep study and they detected nothing. However, I didnt really have any "episodes" that night.

You have described my symptoms perfectly.  I really feel like I am going to die, and it always happens when I begin to lose consciousness while trying to sleep.  I jerk awake up with a terrible sensation that I am dying.  My heart begins to pound (probably due to being afraid).  I can't take it anymore.
