Hi Anna:

Yes, its possible that a heart attack could affect the balance.  If the pumping function of the heart is reduced, less blood flows to the brain and this could affect the nervous system.

Sometimes a slow heart beat comes with a heart attack and this could also create a balance problems.

The medications used for heart disease can also influence the balance.

I hope this helps.

Hi Dr Kirk,

you mention that the medications used for heart disease can also influence the balance.

Are vasodilators included ?

I have a relative who was treated with excessive vasodilators (perfusion) during mroe than 24 hours.

Right after je started noticing loss of balance.

Are there smilar cases of loss of balance as a consequence of an excessive use of vasodialtors ?

Thanks
