Q: If I am allergic to fish and shellfish, would I necessarily have an allergic reaction to fish oil? My HDL is low and I read that Omega 3 from fish oil is a good way to raise HDL. Matt

Hi Matt,

Mostlikely you would have a reaction to fish oil. While fish oil is my first choice for supplementing omega 3's, you do have other options. Flaxseed oil supplements and adding ground flaxseed to your diet are other options for increasing your intake of omega 3 fatty acids.
