Patient assistance for low income people is provided on many levels including from the federal government, state government, local governments, and private organizations. Typically services are coordinated through an agency that is local to the patient, such as a social worker in the nearest city, county, or regional office. These programs go by a number of names, such as Medicaid. Your local coordinator is your best bet to accessing these resources. In addition, a number of drug companies offer special programs for those in need who may not be able to afford their medications. Going through the list of medications and the manufacturers may reveal opportunities for relief from some of the costs. Jonathan Insurance Expert
