Q: does thickening of the heart muscles usually lead to heart failure

I have had a bypass surgery on gthe left ventricle artery, which was 90% blocked.  The Mamory artery was used for the bypass.  Now I have thickened heart muscles and the doctor increased my Lipitor to the max.  Does thickened heart muscles lead to heart failure, or can it be reversed?
