Hi Pipine:

I would visit with your physician about your risks of a stroke if you have had shingles. There is a Taiwanese study that showed adults may be at increased risk for stroke.  In the new study, researchers found that among adults with and without ophthalmic(eye) shingles, those who'd had the infection were more likely to suffer a stroke in the year after seeking shingles treatment.

I would also visit with your doctor on his explanation of the difference in blood pressure. Your arm blood pressure's should have similar readings. Sometimes when there is a significant difference it could possibly mean there is cardiovascular or vascular concerns.

Take care,

Tara, RN
