Friday, March 02, 2012 Concerned daughter, Community Member, asks

Q: My mothers drs have just told us that there really isnt anything they can do for her except keep her comfortable.

She is no longer a candiate for a heart cath or surgery due to kidney complications. She is 83, diabetic and has already had 5 bypasses. The Dr. said, she could have the "big one" at any time, tomorrow, next week or even next year. What are we supposed to do? Sit and wait for her to die? I cannot handle that!

Concerned daughter,

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother's situation. I'm sure this is a very difficult time for all of your family. There is nothing wrong with seeking a second opinion to rule out any other options.

All the best,
