Thursday, November 26, 2009 Cattot asks

Q: NUMBNESS on the upper right side of face radiating all the way up to center top right side of head.

It is completely numb and has been for going on 2 weeks.  Could this be stroke related????  Please can someone give me feedback on this.  I'm really concerned about this.  I have no insurance and cant just run to the doctor  or especially the ER, but I do know that this is not something that is normal.  HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING???   PLEASE?

Hi Cattot,

Yes, it's possible what you are experiencing is linked to a stroke.

I encourage you to do what you can to see a physician as soon as possible.

Is there any way for the doctor to tell if I have had a stroke of some kind???  or, is there even anything that they can do now, if this is indeed what has happened?

Hi Cattot,

There are a variety of tests available to examine blood flow in the brain and to pinpoint the area impacted by a stroke, such as a CAT scan.  A physician would be able to determine which test was appropriate for your situation.

Consider contacting Deanne Stein here on Health Central to discuss stroke treatment options and the benefit of contacting a physician "after the fact".

All the best,
