How close can blood pressure points be?
If blood pressure is 96/65 are those nos. too close and can that be a dangerous condition along with the fact that the blood pressure is low?
Mary Jo Tedder,
Thanks for your posted question.
Concerning how close your numbers are: your readings would be considered normal. When looking at the difference between the two numbers (this is called the pulse pressure) it is very important to know the numbers themselves. For example, your pulse pressure is 31, and with your numbers, this is acceptable. However a pulse pressure of 31 with readings of 140/109 is quite a different situation.
It is not unusual to see blood pressure readings you described in young females. But, to answer the question accurately, information concerning your history and physical findings is necessary, and your primary care physician is the best person to fully evaluate your blood pressure to determine whether this is normal for you. I encourage you to make an appointment to see your doctor and discuss your concerns with him.
Please review this website, especially the section on high blood pressure to obtain more facts and information about blood pressure.
Best wishes.
