Q: Because of my naturally high resting heart rate will this effect my ability to run? Will my resting heart rate go down as I begin to get in shape??

I visited a cardioligist about a year ago for a resting heart rate being clocked at as much as 130bpm while in my family physician's office. I took several tests including an EKG and a holter moniter for 24 hrs. In the end the doctor assured me that i was fine and there is nothing wrong with me or my heart. I am 19 years old, male, 140lbs, 5'11'' and I have recently enlistef for the Navy. This question arrises from my knowing that I will have to run a mile and a half in about 12min. I am no where near being able to do that right now due to my lack activity in the past years but have been working on it in the gym. My heart rate during high intensity cardio climbs to about 180bpm but no higher. I have never been able to run very well even in elementary school, but I am hoping it's simply because I'm very out of shape. Any input would be greatly appreciated
