Friday, July 30, 2010 ldicarlo asks

Q: have pace makers advanced to the point cordless drills etc are safe to use ?

I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS NEEDING A PACE MAKER ( HE WORKS WITH POWER TOOLS DAILY) IN A PRIOR ARTICLE IT SAYS CORDLESS TOOLS COULD INTERFERE WITH THE PACEMAKER, THIS ARTICLE WAS WRITTEN IN 2006.

ALSO IF IT STIMULATES THE HEART WHEN IT SLOWS HOW IS IT DETERMINED THAT ITS TIME FOR THE PACEMAKER NOT TO WORK SO THE PERSON MAY PASS, IVE HEARD HORROR STORIES ABOUT THIS AND THIS IS THE ONLY REASON I DONT WANT MY FREND HAVING THIS PACEMAKER PUT IN.

CAN YOU PUT OUR MINDS TO REST HERE PLEASE?

THANK YOU

JUSTLISA

Hi Idicarlo,

I do not know if pacemakers have advanced where certain devices are no longer a concern. Here's a link to information that may help you:
