Saturday, June 27, 2009 Reason Warehime asks

Q: tightness in my chest sometimes severe im told it could be lisinopril ormetoprol im taking both

First of all I'm Taking lisinoprol and metoprol,isosorbide,plavix,lipitor,omeprazole,320asprine

most of this 2 times a day except for the asprine. My cardeolajust says I have 5 glogs and ther to long to put stints. these meds have made me feel like i'll cut my on chest open before i take one more.  My doctors don't know how to listen to patents needs and concerns i think working at the bloody nose hospital for to long has made them forget why they got into medicaine in the first place. My chest feels like it,s going to exsplode, pretty much all the time. It's not a hart attack nitro does't work constant pain symptoms very. I'm not a doctor but from my online studing i ve found Omeprazole,plavix are a no,no togethere, is this true also I think the metoprolol and lisinopril are causing my pain. stuck with this insurance docters won't listen to my camplains I'm sick of being sick.HELP!

Hi Reason,

 

I'm not able to give you a lot of input on the medications.  Yes, there is potential for a drug interaction and extra monitoring by your physician may be warranted.

 

I do want to give you two suggestions that will promote heart health.  If you are not supplementing coenzyme Q10, I highly recommend you do so.  Of course, discuss with your physician first.  I know some individuals have experienced decreased angina after supplementing coenzyme Q10.  Lipitor blocks the bodies production of coenzyme q10.

 

Also, if you do not supplement omega 3 fatty acids (fish oil) I recommend you do so.  Again, consult your physician.  Fish oil can penetrate the plaque within your arteries within just 3 days of beginning supplementation, decreasing the vulnerability of your arterial plaque.
