Q: I had a change in heart rate following surgery

I was physically fit with a resting heart rate of about 50.  After 7 surgeries last year, my resting heart rate increased to about 72 and recovey time is longer.  I have been back in training for triathlon about 1 month.  I did a limited workout schedule and 4 triathlons during the time I was having surgery and recovering from surgery for left arm damage from a biking accident, knee surgery and a mastectemy with reconstruction.  How long can I expect it to take for my resting heart rate to go back down?

Hi KRH,

That's a difficult question to answer since it varies for each person.  Here is some info about exercise and resting heart rate that may help answer your question.
