Q: Need a sleep medication for diabetics

I want something to help me stay asleep and will not cause other health problems.  My daughter, a nurse in training is worried about my kidneys.  I have been on insulin for about seven years but am a Type II having used pills 26 years.

My beloved husband of 38 years passed away just one and one half months after our 38th anniversary and in the hospital  for a series of strokes.  I had not slept well for several years because of being his caregiver so slept with one ear open in case he needed help during the night.  He went to the bathroom several times a night and fell out one time just before I had to put him in the hospital.
