Q: heart attack

Can you take aspirin, if you have had a heart attack. And will this help from preventing another one?

Hello Sabrina,

 

Aspirin helps to thin your blood. This could help reduce the risk of heart attack. However there are long term side effects to taking aspirin regularly and it is not recommended as a treatment for everyone. It also probably wont work on its own to prevent a heart attack. If you want to consider it as an option to thin your blood, I would suggest seeing your doc and hearing what they have to say. They will be able to tell you if its right for you based on who you are and your lifestyle.
