Q: My granddaughter started suffering seizures caused by a viral infection in her brain. I want to know if getting upset or mood change can bring on a seizure?

Hi Flo,

 

Yes, mood changes caused by stress can trigger seizures in certain people.  Not everyone has a seizure from the same trigger. Some other triggers are lack of sleep, strenuous physical activity, dehydration, flickering lights or strobe lights and more.  The important thing to do is to keep track of what may have triggered your granddaughter's seizure so those things can be avoided in the future.
