My condolences. Sounds like you have yourself a seriously stubborn, ignorant man on your hands! Don't stress YOURSELF out over this. We can't make anyone do what they don't want to do and frankly some people thrive over this kind of attention. He's got one foot in the hole and the other on the banana peel...it's just a matter of (short) time if he doesn't want to change. You would at least think he would consider his families fears and feelings about the possiblity of losing him.
