Q: Can a stiff heart come from Lyme's Disease?

I become short of breath when round dancing and I have had Lyme's Disease and am wondering if this is from Lyme's. I had the test to check the arteries for plaque and found none. Tests show that my heart muscle is stiff and not receiving the full amount of blood from the lungs with each beat. It's backing up in the lungs and causing a shortage of breath.

Hi Martha,

The late stages of Lyme disease can impact the heart, such as causing abnormal heart beats. However, I'm not sure it'd be connected to the shortness of breath and 'stiff heart' you are experiencing. I recommend investigating the cause with your physician.
