Q: what are the major causes of intermittent shortness of breath in middle to older age men?

My husband has intermittent shortness of breath.  He has an inhaler for activiity related asthma that he uses before he plays tennis.  Last night he was laying down and had a suddenonset of shotness of breath. He is somewhat overweight but he carries the weight inhis upper body.  He snores but refuses to be tested for sleep apnea.

Difficulty Breathing

I encourage your husband to make an appointment with his physician if his SOB is different from what he has experienced in the past.

Best of luck,
